When the doctor arrived, he found the beautiful officer sitting in a booth towards the back where they met. A.J. barely noticed with her nose deep in a book. He smiled, Rosie read a lot…

“Hey there…” he said warmly.

She began to stand…

“Please sit…” he interrupted as he sat down. “Have you ordered?”

“No, was waiting for you…”

“Well, I don’t know about you…but I am rather hungry. Have you eaten?”

“Well, no…”

“Then let’s eat…”

A.J. smiled and nodded as they began to read the choices on Denny’s menu.

The doctor could easily have afforded a lavish dinner, but the laid back style of Denny’s suited their questionable date just fine. So, fancy as it wasn’t, the two dined on Denny’s mouthwatering food and indulged in fabulous conversation becoming more acquainted with one another.

Intrigued by his company’s charm, Jacob took the bill to pay it he said “I got this!”

“Oh Jacob, I didn’t expect you to pay…” said Johnson.

“I’d like to pay for this… please let me?”

Johnson smiled.

Then Jacob asked. “Do you have plans right now?”

“No, not really.”

“Would you like to go back to my place for a drink? Maybe for some more wonderful conversation?”

“Yes Jacob. That would be nice.”

As Jacob opened the door to his finely decorated home, Johnson walked in and could hardly believe her eyes. “This is really nice!” she said.

“Thank you…” said Jacob.

A.J. marveled at her surroundings, everything was intricately decorated and felt much like a fine museum. Jacob had always enjoyed collecting the finest things and displayed them with pride. Quietly, she absorbed the beauty of these relics, Johnson smiled.

“Do you like music?” Jacob asked.

“Yes, I do.”

“May I play for you?”

“I would like that” Johnson said.

Then, sitting down at his old ivory friend, Jacob began to play. The sound of the well-tuned instrument flowed gracefully from his finger and filled the room. A.J. enjoyed every note. Jacob played with such style and grace that Johnson’s soul began to float above the joy it brought. Jacob was passionate about his music and played the piano as if it was a part of his very soul. And it was.

Moved by the music, A.J. walked towards the piano and stroked its smooth polished surface. She was moved with passion.

“Want some wine?” Jacob asked as he played.

“Sure, but don’t stop playing. I’ll get it.”

The open bar stood decoratively in the dining area. The glasses hung inverted within the frame of the cabinet. Then, from a wine rack beneath it, Johnson pulled out a bottle of very fine, red wine. He poured it slowly and passionately, still feeling the soul of the music as it flowed through his veins.

Then carefully, he carried the sweet wine to her inspiring friend. Jacob completed a beautiful medley and then paused to take a drink. Jacob sat upon the bench, while A.J. sat comfortably in the ivory armed chair nearby.

“You play magically!” A.J. said.

“Thank you.”

“How long have you been playing?”

“Since I was a boy. Mom taught me” he replied.

“Well, you have a real gift!”

“Thanks again.”

As the flickers of the evening light caught Jacob’ eyes, A.
